Creo que si me preguntaran ahora mismo cuál es mi destino favorito, diría que cualquier punto de Europa. He tenido la suerte de viajar bastante durante estos años, pero me queda tantísimo por ver que una de las cosas que me mantienen siempre feliz es pensar cuál será mi próximo destino. EL año pasado, justo antes de volver a casa por navidad (de ahí que veáis en todas las fotos adornos navideños , sacadas con mi móvil,  perdonadme por la calidad!)  hicimos una escapada de 4 días a Viena. Era una de las capitales centroeuropeas que me quedaban por descubrir y, a pesar de que estuvimos hasta el último minuto decidiendo si viajar  a Praga, al final ganó la capital austriaca. 

I think if you ask me right now what is my favorite destination, I'd say anywhere in Europe. I have been lucky enough to travel oftenly during these past years, but I still have so  much to see and discover and  one of the things that keep me happy is always thinking what my next destination will be. Last year, just before coming back home for Christmas (that's why you will see in almost every single picture Christmas decorations,- the photos were taken with my phone, sorry for the quality!) we did a 4 day break to Vienna. It was one of the cities  that I had to discovered no-matter-what, and despite the fact that we were until the last minute choosing  whether to travel to Prague, in the end Austria won!

¿Dónde dormir? Para nuestros 4 días buscábamos un hotel que estuviera bien situado, tras algunos días revisando precios acabamos decidiendo hospedarnos en el Nestroy Hotel. Casi siempre antes de reservar un hotel busco opiniones y fotos actuales en tripadvisor (ya sabéis que los hoteles suelen utilizar demasiado photoshop para mostrar sus instalaciones), el hotel era más o menos lo que estábamos buscado, así que no hicimos demasiado caso de las opiniones regulares. Mala decisión. El personal del hotel fue totalmente descortés desde el minuto uno de nuestra entrada (recepcionistas, baristas...), la decoración era totalmente anticuada, muy escasa, en general se notaba que faltaba una puesta apunto. ¿Algo bueno? Su situación, en una zona tranquila a penas unos 15 minutos del centro de la ciudad. 

Where to sleep? For our 4 days stay in Vienna, we were looking for a hotel that was conveniently located, after looking for it for a couple of days  we decided to book in  Nestroy hotel . Almost always before booking a hotel, I look at the  reviews and photos that have been recently uploaded on tripadvisor (you know that hotels tend to use too much photoshop to show their rooms),  and well, it seemed that  the hotel was pretty much what we were looking for, so we did not pay much attention to the opinions. Bad, bad decision. The hotel staff was completely rude from the minute one of our entry (front desk staff, bar tenders ...), the decor was totally outdated, very rare, you could easily realize that some renovation works were well needed.Anything good? Its location! Quiet aerea, barely 15 minutes walking from downtown area.

¿Dónde comer? He de decir que antes de volar hacia Viena estuve mirando en diferentes foros cuál era el plato típico o, qué era lo que a los austríacos les gustaba comer. Bien, después de leer algunas de las recetas más típicas, he de confesar que no estaba muy tentada pero, después de pensarlo algunas veces (creo que cada vez que iba a un restaurante pensaba si lanzarme o ir a lo seguro), cedí. Una de nuestras primeras comidas en la ciudad fue en el maravilloso restaurante LeLoft, en la última planta del Sofitel Viena. Las vistas eran sencillamente espectaculares, con una visión panorámica de la ciudad (os recomiendo que vayáis a cenar, ya que Viena es aún más espectacular iluminada), la decoración era moderna con grandes cristaleras y mobiliario muy sencillo, su cocina es innovativa (aunque también cuentan con platos típicos, eso sí, cocinados de manera especial). Para los amantes de la comida mexicana, no dudéis en pasaros por Pancho, el menú era variado y la comida en general, muy rica. Los cócteles eran estupendos, y le servicio aunque ligeramente lento, atentos en todo momento. Para descansar de un día de compras por la ciudad, escápate a Hoofbrau, en un callejón cercano de las grandes tiendas, podrás elegir entre la gran variedad de cervezas mientras degustas algunos de sus platos. Quizá no sea un restaurante donde ir a cenar, ¡pero para reponerse es perfecto!

Where to eat? I have to say that before flying to Vienna, I looked  at different forums what was typical or what austrian people  liked to eat. Well, after reading some of the most typical recipes I must confess I was not very tempted BUT after thinking about it for a couple of minutes (I think every time I went to a restaurant I stopped and think whether to taste something new  or to play it safe), and then, it happened. I tried them! One of our first meal in town was at the LeLoft ,wonderful restaurant on the top floor of Sofitel Vienna. The views were simply spectacular, with a panoramic view of the city (I recommend you going for dinner, Vienna is even more beautiful by night), the decor was modern: simply furnished, the cuisine was  innovative (although they have also commun dishes,  but yes, especially cooked). For  Mexican food lovers , do not hesitate to stop by Pancho, great menu with great classics! The cocktails were great, and even if the service was a bit slowl, they were always around asking if something was missing etc. To relax from a shopping day in the city, go to Hoofbrau in an alley close to the biggest international shops,  you will be able to choose from the wide variety of beers while enjoying some of their dishes. Maybe is not the first choice to go and hav dinner, but it's a great one for ricovering!

¿Qué hacer?  Creo que cuaquier persona que haya oído hablar de Viena sabe que es una ciudad preciosa llena de museos, palacios  y parques donde perderte durante horas (pongamos de ejemplo  Volksgarten, Burggarten…) Nosotros tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar La Casa de Mozart (psss:si sois aùn estudiantes, llevad con vosotros vuestros carnet de estudiante universitario o el carnet joven europea, tendréis descuentos adicionales en el precio de las entradas), tengo que confesar que  el resto del tiempo lo pasamos callejeando, como os he dicho antes viajamos a mediados de diciembre, así que la cantidad de mercadillos y puestos ambulantes con artesanía, comida, ropa y jueguetes que había allá donde fueras hacía casi imposible no tardar una hora en recorrer una sola calle.

What to do? I think everyone who has heared about Vienna knows that is a really beautiful city full of museums, palaces and parks where you can get lost for hours and hours (let's just say Volksgarten, Burggarten...) We had the chance to visit Mozart House (pss: if you are still a student, always carry with your your university/school identity card, you will get special prices!). I must confess we spent the rest of our time strolling, as I said before we went there in mid-December so you can imagine how many markets and street stalls there were with clothes, old toys, hadcraft products in every single corner! All these made almost impossible not to spend more than an hour in one single street!

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Volvemos a Sudamérica. Ahora toca viajar hasta la capital de Argentina, Buenos Aires. Como ya os he contado antes, mientras estuve de intercambio universitario en Brasil tuve la oportunidad de viajar  bastante, uno de los lugares que más nos apetecía conocer era Argentina, así que nos decidimos por su capital, y entonces... nos enamoramos.

Creo que no he oído nunca a nadie hablar mal de Buenos Aires, todo el mundo que ha ido ha quedado fascinado. Y nosotros no fuimos menos, ¿qué era? No me preguntéis, quizá fuera la gente, sus calles, los restaurantes, su exquisito vino... Una parte de mi corazón se quedó allí sin duda. 

Llegamos en un vuelo directo desde Río de Janeiro, de nuevo viajando con TAM, y una vez fue un viaje estupendo (como os habréis dado cuenta, TAM se ha convertido en una de mis aerolíneas favoritas. Además tuvimos la oportunidad de hacer el trayecto en business, el menú era exquisito y la atención por parte de las azafatas fue magnífica, extra cómodos los asientos y las comodidades que te ofrecen por viajar en una categoría superior). El vuelo aterrizó bien entrada ya la noche, así que desde el aeropuerto nos recomendaron coger un taxi hasta el hotel, ¿el precio del trayecto hasta el hotel que se encontraba en el barrio de Recoleta? Aproximadamente unos 200 pesos argentinos, unos 20€.

We are back to South America. Now it's time to travel to the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. As I've told you before, while I was in university exchange in Brazil we had the opportunity to travel a lot, and one of the places we most wanted to visit was Argentina, so our next stop, Bs As and then ... we  felt in love. 

I think I have never heard anyone say "I don't like Buenos Aires", everyone who has been there has been fascinated,,and so we were! What was it? Do not ask me, maybe it was the people, streets, restaurants, exquisite wine ... I left a part of my heart there (so... this means I will need to come back soon!)

We arrived  from Río de Janeiro, again flying  with TAM, and once again it was such a great trip (as you may have noticed, TAM has become one of my favorite airlines, we went on business, the seats where extra comfy, and the menu was absolutely fantastic, so good experience!). The flight landed safely late at night, so they recommended us taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel that was located in  the neighborhood of Recoleta? Approximately 200 Argentine pesos, about 20 €.

¿Dónde dormir? Cuando viajamos a Buenos Aires era noviembre del 2012, tras una búsqueda de un par de semanas decidimos que, esta vez, queríamos algo un poco mejor, así que nos hospedamos en el Buenos Aires Grand, como ya he dicho antes, en el barrio de Recoleta. El hotel era fantástico, había sido inaugurado a penas dos meses antes por lo que estaba dotada de las ultimas tecnologías y con un mobiliario moderno  pero a la vez acogedor,  se notaba que aún estaba por terminar  en algunos  aspectos (no había lista del servicio de minibar, precios por lavandería etc), pero el hotel era una verdadera maravilla. La primera noche nos quedamos en la habitación básica, pero tras algunos problemas con la televisión y con la iluminación nos ofrecieron un upgrade a una habitación superior, ésta era mucho más espaciosa. He de comentar que el personal fue sencillamente maravilloso, todo lo que te puedes esperar de un hotel de 5 estrellas (y como ya sabéis, cuando reservas un hotel, al final lo haces esperando los servicios del precio que has pagado). Quizá lo único que me desilusiono un poco fue el desayuno, algo escaso y demasiado sencillo para mi gusto.  

Es una buenísimas opción para hospedarse si estás pensado en ir a Buenos Aires, a su alrededor puedes encontrar una gran cantidad de restaurantes y bares abiertos hasta tarde, tiendas donde poder ir de compras y, además, podrás llegas a pie a algunos de los monumentos históricos más conocidos de la ciudad.

Where to sleep? When we went to Buenos Aires was in November 2012, after  looking for a hotel for a  couple of weeks, looking at the different options and prices, we decided that this time we wanted something a little better, so we stayed in Buenos Aires Grand. (as I said before, in the neighborhood of Recoleta). The hotel was fantastic, it was  opened barely two months before our arrival so it was equipped with the latest technologies and modern furniture but welcoming at the same time. You could tell he was yet to finish in some respects (no service list minibar, laundry prices etc), but the hotel was a marvel. The first night we stayed in the basic room, but after some problems with the lighting and television offered an upgrade to a superior room, it was much more spacious. I have to comment that the staff was just wonderful, everything you expect from a 5-star (and as you know, when booking a hotel, you do end waiting services price you paid). Perhaps the only thing that disappointed me a bit was the breakfast somewhat lacking and too simple for my taste.

¿Dónde comer?  Si vas a Buenos Aires (y, bueno, a Argentina en general) no puedes perderte su carne ni, por supuesto, su vino. Durante nuestra estancia tuvimos la suerte de contar con algunos amigos que se encontraban viviendo allí para que nos llevaran a algunos de los restaurantes más típicos, otros os descubrimos Fabio y yo por nuestra cuenta. En primer lugar os quería hablar de un restaurante típico argentino que se encuentra en la plaza Dorrego, en pleno corazón de San Telmo, pero cuál ha sido mi decepción al comprobar que no lo han cerrado… Pero antes de salir de San Telmo, pasaros por el Bar Plaza Dorrego San Telmo, un clásico de la capital con un aire diferente, conserva mobiliario antiguo  y podrás elegir entre una enorme variedad de bebidas, ¿el único problema? ¡Siempre está lleno! Otra gran opción es Parilla Aires Criollos, un magnífico restaurante en el que podrás degustar la carne argentina en su mejor estado (si no comes carne, tranquilo, hay muchas otras opciones en la carta) y podrás beber vinos estupendos, y todo a un precio realmente espectacular, ¡no dudéis en ir! Para una comida tranquila, siempre disfrutando de la cocina argentina y a un precio más que razonable visitad Almacén y Restaurante Suipacha, en el corazón de Buenos Aires. 

Where to eat? If you go to Buenos Aires (and, well, Argentina in general) do not miss their meat and, of course, wine. During our stay we were lucky to have some friends who were living there for a while and that took us to some of the most typical restaurants. First I was so excited because I wanted to talk about a typical Argentine restaurant located in Plaza Dorrego, in the heart of San Telmo, that we totally loved because of their food and their wine and because you could sit on the balcony and have lunch while you see tango shows live in the square, but what was my disappointment when I found out that it's now closed ... But before leaving San Telmo, stopping by Bar Plaza Dorrego San Telmo, a classic! With a different air,  antique furniture ... You can choose from a huge variety of drinks, the only problem?It's hard to find an empty table! Another great option is Parilla Aires Criollos, a superb restaurant where you can taste the argetinian meat at its best (if you do not eat meat, don't worry, there are so many other options on the menu) and you can also chose a great wine, and all at a price really spectacular, do not hesitate to go! For a quiet meal, always enjoying the Argentina kitchen and a reasonable price visist Suipacha Almacén  y restaurant in the heart of Buenos Aires.

¿Qué hacer? Hay muchísimas cosas que visitar en Buenos Aires.  Tienes que hacer un hueco en tu agenda para visitar los distintos barrios: la elegancia de Recoleta, el espíritu bohemio de Palermo (y sus maravillosos puestos ambulantes o las tiendas vintage que encontrarás en cada esquina), no te olvides de visitar el barrio de Boca y las maravillosas casas de colores de Caminito.  La ciudad es digna de recorrerla a pie, así que te recomiendo que planifiques  tu itinerario por barrios, después podrás moverte de uno a otro con taxi, el precio es verdaderamente barato por lo que podrás ayudarte de ellos para ver la ciudad de punta a punta. 

No olvides visitar el mercadillo de San Telmo, en el barrio del mismo nombre, puedes acceder desde distintos puntos, no te vayas sin recorrer todas sus tiendecitas donde podrás encontar auténticos tesoros, desde gafas de sol vitage, muebles antiguos, tocadiscos, CD y LP's... Maravillas auténticas a precios realmente bajos.

Si vas a quedarte más de tres días en la ciudad y te apetece, no dudes en visitar Uruguay. Uno de los días que estuvimos en Argentina decidimos visitar el país vecino, no hay más que coger el pasaporte, acercarte al puerto y pagar el billete de ida y vuelta en el mismo día para tu destino, nosotros queríamos volver en el mismo día por lo que decidimos visitar la ciudad de Colonia. Fue uno de los mejores viajes que recuerdo, el trayecto fue tranquilo a través del río de la Plata y nada más llegar alquilamos un buggi para visitar la ciudad al completo, tuvimos tiempo para pasear por la costa, conocer el barrio histórico de la ciudad… Es una experiencia que de verdad merece la pena. Si decides visitar esta peculiar ciudad uruguaya, acuérdate de parar a comer en ElDrugstore (con una decoración muy alegre y una carta de comidas bastante buena, eso sí, algo un poco más cara de lo normal) y si quieres comer con vistas, déjate caer por Mesón de la Plaza,el pescado es una delicia, ¡y no hablemos del vino! 

P.D: No os olvidéis de cambiar de dinero cuando lleguéis a Uruguay, nos avisaron en el hotel que no les gusta el cambio al peso argentino.

What to do? There are many things to see in Buenos Aires. In your plan there a lot of things that can't be missed like visiting  different neighborhoods: the elegance of Recoleta, the bohemian spirit of Palermo (and its wonderful stalls or vintage stores that you can  find in each corner), do not forget to visit the neighborhood of Boca and the wonderful and colorful houses of Caminito. The city is worth exploring on foot, so If you want an advice, go one neighborhood  first and then go to the next one,  you can easily  travel from one to another with taxi, the price is really cheap so you can help your feet and  see the city from end to end!.

Don't forget to visit San Telmo Market, in the same neighborhood, you can reach it by different entrances, but pleas do not leave it without seeing every single shop there are really huge treasures waiting for you in these messy little shops: from vintage sunglasses, to CD'S, radios, tv's, everything you can imagine you will find it there, and it's so freaking cheap!

If you're staying more than three days in the city and you feel like to, be sure to visit Uruguay. We were staying in Buenos Aires for 5 days so we decided to visit the neighboring country, all you have to do is  get your passport, get close to the port and pay the ticket for the boat! (I don't remember exactly how much it was, but it was pretty cheap). We wanted to come back on the same day so we decided to visit the city of Colonia. It was one of the best trips I remember, the trip across the River Plate was fantastic and upon arrival we rented a buggi to visit the whole city, we had time to walk along the coast, explore the historic district of the city ... it is an experience that really worths it. If you decide to visit this particular Uruguayan city, remember to stop eating at ElDrugstore (with a pretty good colorful decor and a menu of meals, yes, something a little more expensive than normal) and if you want to eat with a view, drop by Meson de la Plaza, the fish is a delight, not to mention the wine!

P.S: Don't forget t change your money before your arrival in Uruguay, the hotel staff told us that they most of the restaurants and shops don't accept argentinian pesos!

Hoy damos paso a un largo viaje por Brasil. Tuve la oportunidad de vivir durante 5 meses en este gigantesco país sudamericano, concretamente en la ciudad de Natal, estado de Río Grande del Norte. Además, aprovechamos que estábamos allí para viajar por el país al máximo, sabíamos que era una oportunidad única y que, probablemente, tardaríamos unos años en volver. 

El motivo de nuestro viaje fueron los estudios. Nuestra universidad nos dio la oportunidad de realizar un semestre en la Universidade Potiguar, en Natal, así que 32 compañeros y yo, nos fuimos a vivir la aventura. A pesar de que algunos colegas ya habían ido allí el año pasado, resultó un caos organizar el viaje. La mayoría de los chicos que iban llegaron allí gracias a TAP Portugal (con escala en Lisboa), yo, que el día que cogí los billetes no tuve demasiada suerte, llegué a Natal después de viajar siempre con TAP Portugal (un GRACIAS en mayúscula para esta compañía, que facilitó en todo momento información, documentos, asistentes de vuelo educadísimos y muy amables, comidas realmente buenas) y con escalas en Lisboa, y más tarde en Río de Janeiro. Desde allí, y totalmente agotada después de casi 13 horas de vuelo cogí el último de los aviones (esta vez de TAM Airlines, de la que hablaré en otros post) que me llevaría hasta Natal.

ANOTACIÓN: Para aquellos que tengas vuelos intercontinentales desde Lisboa, después de pasar el control de pasaporte no encontraréis a penas restauración, tiendas o quiscos, por lo que os aconsejo que si tenéis una larga espera, hagáis tiempo en la zona del aeropuerto de vuelos nacionales/internacionales donde al menos, podréis disfrutar de alguna que otra tienda o tomaros algo tranquilamente en alguna cafetería.

Let's start our big trip around Brazil. I had the chance to travel to this huge country back in 2012 for 5 months, I lived in Natal, Rio Grande du Norte.Once we were there, we travelled around Brazil and other Southamerican countries.

We went there because our university gave us the chance to study a semester in Natal, so 32 of my friends and I went there to live the adventure. Even if there were people who went there the year before, getting there was a total caos. Most of you will find flights with only one layover in Lisbon, but I wasn't so lucky when I bought my tickets and after almost 13 hours of travelling (Madrid-Lisbon-Río de Janeiro) thanks to TAPPortugal (huge THANKS to the company, they were all so nice, fantastic staff, great meals on board) I landed in Rio at 23pm ready to take my last flight from TAM Airlines who brought me to Natal at 2am.

P.S: For those who have intercontinental flights from Lisbon, after passing through the passport control you will find NOTHING. I mean, you will not find restaurants, bookshops or shops, so my advice: if you have to wait for a flight, wait for it at the domestic flights area, at least you will find something to do!

Pirangi Do Sul. Una de las playas más fascinantes que tuve oportunidad de visitar, si podéis, no dudéis en conducir hasta allí y caminar por su fina arena. Además, si tenéis hambre, dedicad unos minutos a la Barraca do Banga, los mejores pasteles de Natal!

Praia de Cotovelo. Solíamos movernos en coche alrededor de las playas cerca de Natal. Ésta fue desde el primer momento una de nuestras favoritas.

Praia de Cotovelo. We used to travel by car from one beach to another always near Natal. That was one of our favourites from the very first moment.

• Dónde dormir: El barrio de Ponta Negra es el más turístico de la ciudad. Lo reconocerás fácilmente por sus rascacielos, edificios que generalmente son hoteles o apartamentos en alquiler tanto para largas estancias como para cortas. Es un barrio tranquilo, quizá el más seguro de la ciudad. Durante mi temporada en Natal me hospedé en el edificio Cristallo. Estos altísimos edificios están separados de la playa por la carretera principal que bordea toda la costa de Natal, más cerca de la playa encontrarás otros hotelitos/posadas, para estancias más cortas y si lo que deseas es estar a pie de playa.

• Where to sleep: Ponta Negra neighborhood is the most touristic one, which maybe means the safest one. You can easily recognize it by its skycrapers: buildings that are usually hotels or holiday apartments for both long or sort stays. In one of them I lived for 4 months, it was called Cristallo. This huge buildings are few minutes away from the beach of Ponta Negra, you just have to cross Natal's main road. Closer to the beach you will be able to find more little hotels/inns maybe for shorter stays! 

• Dónde comer: Natal cuenta con una gran variedad de restaurantes tanto en la zona más de costa como en la ciudad plenamente dicha. Os recomiendo el restaurante Tomatino , una de las mejores pizzas y especialidades italianas que he probado en mucho tiempo (confirmado por italianos!). No olvides acudir a Camaroes, bonito ambiente, encontrarás distintas sedes por la ciudad, gran variedad de platos a un precio razonable. También acuérdate de pasarte por Pinga Fogo, donde disfrutarás de un buffet al más puro estilo brasileño, ¡buenísimo! Si prefieres disfrutar de la comida mexicana, siempre en Ponta Negra podrás disfrutar de Guaca Mex Y co, nachos completamente irresistibles. Para los amantes de las hamburguesas, Billabong Steak House es el lugar de referencia,  y para los que prefieren probar las buenísimas tapiocas, parada obligatoria en Casa de Taipa, volverás para probar el resto. Si quieres disfrutar de un buffet durante el desayuno o la merienda, te recomiendo que visites  Fran's Cafe y Pao&Companhia,  y el exquisito Boutique dos Sabores ¡qué buenos recuerdos!

• Where to eat: Natal has plenty of restaurants both in the touristic zone but also downtown. Go to Tomatino, you'll taste the best pizza and italian food in town! Don't forget to visit Camaroes, a nice place where you can eat fish and also meat, good price and goos taste! Pinga Fogo is a really good buffet where you'll be able to taste the real brazilian cuisine, so good! If you want to eat some mexican food (and real good one) visit Guaca Mex y Co - their nachos... yummy! And for those hamburguer lovers you will find the best one in Billabong Steak House. I'm pretty sure you will hear talking about "tapiocas", well, go to Casa de Taipa and I'm pretty sure you will fall in love with them. If you want to enjoy a breakfast/lunch buffet, you can go to Fran's Cafe, Pao&Companhia or Boutique dos Sabores, all of them really close to each other. So fantastic, if you are a real sweet lover, you will be delighted!

Y vamos de capital en capital. Creo que prácticamente todo el mundo tiene algo que decir sobre Londres. Dónde ir, dónde NO ir. Qué comer, cómo, cuándo... La capital británica tiene una amplia gama de restaurantes, bares, pubs, hoteles, posadas, hostales y albergues... Como siempre, yo intentaré daros recomendaciones de lugares donde he estado.

Empiezo por deciros que he estado en Londres 4 veces, la primera fue con 15 años mientras estaba en una pequeña ciudad llamada Hastings (¡preciosa!) aprendiendo inglés. Más tarde volví con mis padres en agosto de 2009, y las últimas dos veces fueron en 2013 (en enero, y más tarde a principios de julio).

And here we  are, going from one capital to another. I think that almost everyone has something to say about London. Where to go, where NOT to go.What to eatt, how and when... The British capital city has wide range of restaurants, pubs, hotels, hostels, bed and breakfasts... As always, I'll try to give you tips from my personal experience.

Let's start saying that I've been in London 4 times, the first one was when I was 15 and I was staying in a little town called Hastings; I came back with my parents in August 2009 and the last two times were in January and July 2013.

• Dónde dormir: Cuando fui con mi familia nos hospedamos en el Cumberland Hotel, perfecta localización. Justo al comienzo de Oxford Street, puedes llegar con total tranquilidad con el metro hasta la parada de Marble Arch. Hyde Park está a menos de 5min de distancia. Modernizado hasta el punto de parecer que estás dentro de un museo, las habitaciones tienen un aire acogedor, eso sí... ¡atentos al precio!

• Where to sleep: The first time I went there with my family we stayed at The Cumberland Hotel, such a perfect location. Right at the beginning of Oxford Street, you can easily reach it by metro stopping at Marble Arch station. Hyde Park is less than 5min far. It's been redecorated and once you're in, it seems you're inside a museum! Rooms are comfy and beautiful, but watch the price!

En enero de 2013 volvimos a Londres de escapada romántica. Esta vez encontré un hotelito que se llamaba Berjaya Eden, bastante razonable de precio y no parecía ser tan anticuado como para no ir (como sabréis, los hoteles en Londres de unas 3-4 estrellas no son como los hoteles que puedes encontrar en España, por ejemplo, la mayoría son casones bastante antiguos y dejan bastante que desear). Reservamos dos dobles deluxe (atentos, porque el tipo de habitación deluxe está muy bien, también de precio, pero el diseño y el equipamiento es el adecuado). El desayuno continental estaba incluido, tranquilo, sin nada que destacar. La posición era perfecta si estás buscando alojarte en la zona de Notting Hill, (puedes llegar en metro hasta Bayswater), a penas unos 10min caminando te encontrarás en Portobello. Yo que para estoy soy un poco quejica, he de decir que el personal no fue del todo atento, sin ningún tipo de estereotipo, pero el personal de recepción creo que no debería ser descortés ante ningún cliente.

In January 2013 I went back to London with my boyfriend. This time I found a cute hotel called Berjaya Eden, quite nice price and it didn't seem so old-style to me (it's been always a hard work to find an hotel in London that was not so ugly, and not so expensive). We booked two double deluxe rooms (watch out, these deluxe rooms were beautiful and the equipment was ok, also the price, but the basic ones are totally a different story). The continental breakfast was included, quiet hotel, unremarkable. The location was perfect if you want to stay near Notthing Hill (you can reach the hotel by metro, Bayswater stop). P.S: The recepcion staff wasn't nice at all. 

Por último, y como los Rolling Stones tocaban en Hyde Park ese fin de semana, decidimos aprovechar y viajar a Londres. Esta vez reservé en Shaftesbury Hyde Park International. Una completa odisea. Nos quedamos 4 noches, y sólo con deciros que nos cambiaron de habitación 3 veces os podéis imaginar. EL primer día nos dieron una estancia diminuta, ni siquiera podíamos entrar los dos con nuestras maletas de cabina, además las vistas eran de un tubo de aire acondicionado; pedimos el cambio y nos dieron una habitación más grande donde la ducha esta rota. Aquí tardaron un poco más en venir a revisarlo, intentar arreglarlo, y aunque tuvimos que dormir ahí la primera noche, la segunda ya nos cambiaron a una habitación superior donde la alarma (creo de incendio) sonaba todas las noches a las 2 de la mañana, después de decirlo noche tras noche, os podéis imaginar la cara de pocos amigos que el personal de recepción ponía nada más vernos... Pero yo soy una de esas personas que cuando está de vacaciones, quiere estar de vacaciones, por lo que pago un hotel conforme a lo que me espero de él, y éste, sin duda, ha sido una de las grandes catástrofes de mis reservas.

As Rolling Stones were playing at Hyde Park, we decided to go back to London. The hotel we stayed in was Shaftesbury Hyde Park International. A complete odyssey. We stayed 4 night, and let's start saying we slept in 3 different rooms. As soon as we arrived they gave us a tiny room, there wasn't even space to place our cabin-sized bags; plus the views were the air conditioning- tube, we asked for another room and they quickly placed us in a bigger one, but... the shower was broken! They took a little longer to give us another room as they tried before to check if that was actually truth -and also they tried to fix it, failed!) We had to sleep there for one night and the morning after they gave us a deluxe one, bigger, better views where the alarm  (think the fire one) sounded every night at 2am. As you can guess, we told the staff,but I think they were tired of us.... I am the kind of person that when is on holidays, WANNA be on holidays, so I pay for an hotel according to what I expect for it and this one was one of my biggest fails of my bookings.

• Dónde comer/cenar:  Dejadme que os diga que a la hora de disfrutar de una comida o cena en un italiano siendo tu pareja un romano no es  tarea fácil, por eso los dos quedamos sorprendidos cuando probamos la comida de Prezzo, buena, de calidad y en un ambiente agradable, recomendado para disfrutar de pasta, pizzas y platos especiales italianos. Al lado de Harrods podrás encontrar Zia Teresa , otro restaurante de comida italiana en el que podrás disfrutar de buenos platos a un precio razonable. Una de las mejores hamburguesas que he probado en Londres fue en The Blues Kitchen, en Camden, un restaurante-pub con mucho encanto, y todo en la carta es realmente tentador. 

• Where to eat/have dinner: I should start telling you that enjoying a good Italian dinner when your partner is italian is not easy (there's always something wrong- colours, flavours, sauces, tomatoes...) That's why we both were surprised when we tasted Prezzo, such a beautiful place to have lunch/dinner, not so expensive. If you are the kind of people that love italian food there's another restaurant called Zia Teresa, right next to Harrods where you will enjoy  wonderful italian food. Let's change from pizza to hamburguers and let's talk about The Blues Kitchen ones in Camden town, I'm sure you'll have problems when choosing something from the menu, everything is so tempting! 

Desde nuestro viaje a Estados Unidos en el verano de 2011, tanto Fabio como yo hemos estado obsesionados con The Whole Foods Market, un supermercado - restaurante de comida orgánica. No hay ningún viaje en el que no busquemos antes si hay algún Market, así que cuál fue nuestra sorpresa al encontrarnos con uno de ellos en el pleno centro de Londres. La comida es buenísima, algo más cara de lo normal pero la calidad es exquisita y realmente merece la pena ir.

Since we came back from our summer in the United States back in 2011, Fabio and I were hardly obsessed with The Whole Foods Market, an organic  market-restaurant. Everytime we are travelling to a new place we seek for it, so what a fantastic surprise when we found it in London town! Food is absolutely fantastic, bit more expensive than the other markets but quality is exquisite, so worth it!

Desde mi primer viaje a Londres desarrollé un profundo cariño a la cadena Pret-à-Manger, que puedes encontrar en cualquier rincón de la capital y donde sirven zumos frescos, unos croissants maravillosos y todo tipo de bocadillos. Mi sitio favorito para desayunar, ¡esa soy yo! 

From my very first trip to London I developed a deep love for Prêt-à-manger, which can be found in every single corner around the town. You will be able to eat freat croissants, fresh juices and all kind of snacks. That's my favourite place to have breakfast in, that's me!

Pero no puedes dejar de estar en Londres sin probar la comida de otros pubs. The Monkey Puzzle estaba en frente de nuestro hotel en el barrio de Paddington, puedes encontrar un menú muy apetecible y un personal muy amable. Escápate unos minutos de Oxford Street y tómate algo en Shakespeares Head (eso sí, espero que tengas suerte encontrando un hueco libre...) y si estás cerca de Notting Hill, acércate a The Redan Pub, podrás elegir entre su amplia gama de cervezas y además seguro que hay algo en su carta que acabarás por probar.

You can not leave London without tasting its pubs' food. The Monkey Puzzle was just in front of our hotel in Paddington, they had a very appetizing menu and if you have a lovely stuff as they had everything gets better! Take a break from Oxford Street and stop by Shakespeares Head (good luck when finding a free table!) and if you're near Bayswater come to The Redan Pub, you will be able to choose from their wide range of beers and I'm also sure you will find something in their menu that you will end by eating!
